Missing Instructions – Crowd Sourcing Prize Draw Competition

Help us to fill our online library of free to download build instructions for the various Warhammer model ranges.

So far we have Crowd Sourced all of our instruction booklets from a range of sources and a lot of members of the Warhammer community.

As of early May 2023, we have over 1,650+ free to download PDFs and an online catalogue which contains approx. 2,900 Warhammer products. That means we have just under 60% coverage across everything, and in fact we have much higher coverage for Warhammer Age of Sigmar (70%+) and Warhammer 40,000 (78%+), and our library continues to grow each month.

To help fill up our library faster, and make more instructions available to more Warhammer hobbyists, we’re launching a Crowd Sourcing Competition!

If you have any instruction booklets which we don’t currently have in our library (or you have a better quality copy maybe!) – then send them in to us and be entered into a Free Prize Draw to win your choice of the following range of great prizes!

How to Win

For each set of instructions which we receive and then publish (either ones we didn’t have before, or a new / better copy of something we did have) – you’ll get x1 entry into our next Free Prize Draw. Once we have x100 new instruction booklets, we’ll run a Prize Draw and the winner will be able to pick their prize from the current basket of prizes!

Send Quality Images, PDFs, or Post Paper Copies (UK & ROI only)

The best way for us to receive copies of the build instructions which you have ready to share, is if you send across images (of photographed or scanned pages), or PDFs of original digital instructions.

You can do this using our email address for submissions here: submissions@buildinstructions.com

If you don’t have the time to photograph or scan copies, and you live in the UK or ROI (Republic of Ireland), then feel free to post your original paper instruction booklets to us, and we’ll do the digitising.

To use the postal method – just email us again at submissions@buildinstructions.com, let us know what you want to send and confirm you’re based in the UK or ROI, and we’ll provide an address which you can post them to.

*Please see below for Terms & Conditions relating to posting any instruction booklets to us, thanks.

How to Take Quality Pictures of Build Instructions

One quick and easy way for us to digitise a copy of an instruction booklet, is for you to take pictures of each page – send them across to us via email, and then we’ll crop and compile them into a downloadable PDF file.

If you’re taking pictures of Warhammer instruction booklets using your mobile phone, here are a few tips:

  • Any file format is fine. We typically receive images in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .HEIC or similar phone formats.
  • Lay the booklet flat on a blank background, such as a table, cardboard box, or Warhammer carry case.
  • Take a close-up photo of each page, taking care to get a straight shot, with all edges roughly lined-up with the photo frame.
  • Portrait is best.
  • Well lit natural light tends to work best. Try to avoid glare from lamp light or overhead spotlights.
  • Send your photos across to our email address for submissions here: submissions@buildinstructions.com
  • If you’re sending a lot of high quality images and struggling to attach them to a single email due to file size… send us an email and we can provide a DropBox location link for you to upload to 🙂

Full List of Prizes Available

Please note: The list of prizes will reduce as each Prize Draw concludes and prizes are claimed on a first choice basis.

Postage of Prizes, to Prize Draw Winners: We will post any prize out to UK mainland, or ROI mainland, for FREE and at no cost to prize winner. For any International destinations – we will calculate shipping costs and reserve the right to ask prize winner to cover postage costs if these are deemed significant. Please bear in mind that the Build Instructions team have spent significant time and money putting together the Prize Draw basket. International prize winners may also be liable to cover any Customs and Import duties, as applicable for their territory at time of postage. We will make efforts to contact prize winners in advance, to discuss postage options in any case.

Condition of Prize items: Nearly all prizes are Brand New and Sealed. Some box sets have been opened for purposes of photographing the enclosed build instruction booklets to add to the BuildInstructions.com library, but all contents remain included and untouched. The x2 “Retro” early edition 40K box sets (the Ultramarines Paint Set, and the Space Marine Bike), are obviously not “new” in that they are many years old, but they are complete box sets, un-assembled and un-used.

Terms & Conditions of Prize Draw

  • 1 entry per instruction booklet received, which is either an item we do not currently have in stock, or a better quality copy which we then choose to replace an item which is already in our library.
  • Each time we reach x100 new additions to our library, we will conduct a prize draw. This will continue until our library is full, or until such time as we deem the competition has run it’s course.
  • The Prize Draw basket is a range of prizes which we have collected over the last 18mths+, all of which are rare or limited edition Warhammer products.
  • Posting instruction booklets to us: We do not cover postage costs. The mission of BuildInstructions.com is to provide a crowd sourced and free to use resource, to the wider Warhammer community. We hope that supporters will be happy to take a little time, effort and cost to post their instructions to share with the wider Warhammer community, and in return you get our gratitude and the chance to win some awesome prizes! In most cases, posting paper copies of Warhammer instruction booklets should be in-expensive and letter based postage should cover things, but if you do have a very significant package of instructions to post in – please get in touch and we’ll see what arrangements we can make to assist.
  • We will assume that any paper instruction booklets which are posted in to us, are not required to be returned. If you’d like to have your booklets returned after we’ve copied and digitised them, then please provide return postage (stamps) and return address, thank you.
  • The full list of potential prizes will be updated as the Crowd Sourcing competition progresses. It is anticipated that as each Prize Draw is conducted and a winner picks x1 prize from the prize basket, the range of options will reduce accordingly. We may add to the prize basket range as the competition progresses.
  • Any winner of a Prize Draw, will be contacted and offered to make a selection of their choice of prize from the range of prizes currently available at that time. We make no guarantees that your preferred prize will still be available at any given time in the future, but we will update the list of what’s still in-stock and available on a regular basis, both on this website, and across our social channels.
